Odd dings on Jeffsy AL 29er frame

    Hi all,

Just noticed I have small "dings" on my down tube. First thought was, shit some projection from the front wheel must have dinged my frame, but upon closer inspection, the paint is pristine at those locations.

The bike is pretty new with barely 300km.

The dings are very difficult to capture although I did succeed with a light shining like so :

Now I need to stress that with the light shinning like that the dings seem quite horrible but in reality they are barely noticeable. I did not notice they were here for the time I've had the bike, despite having a good look at it when I unboxed it.

Here is a picture of actual rock chips , which are much lower on the tube close to the BB, and clearly they only chipped the paint without deformation to the frame :

All in all I'm prett sure those dings were there before the frame was painted.

I am not freaking out at all at this point just really curious about them and wondering if this is typical on AL frames, maybe happened during fabrication ?

What do you think and do you also have these on yours ?
    Cheers!

I would guess you should also check directly with YT. May be a known production issue, might be new to them. Either way they should probably know. I agree that it doesn't look like a rock ding but more like a large object deformation, like you'd get during shipping or pre paint handling error.

Not during shipping that is a sure thing as the cardboard frame protection was undamaged.

I've emailed YT, let's see what they have to say...
