    2016 Jeffsy Replacement shock recommendations

I have a buddy moving the US with his YT Jeffsy 29er (2016). In the flight over, his Rockshox Monarch vented into the negative air chamber. He is considering upgrading the shock, any recommendations, air vs coil? Fox, RS, DVO, etc?

In northeast Ohio, the need for travel is limited, but he is from the Isle of Man which does have some significant DH.

Crickets...well Iíll assume it is a low level Monarch like the Fox DPS... I just replaced my DPS with a Manitou McLeod and it has completely improved the agility of the bike. Itís a plush performance shock with great mid stroke support which complements the Jeffsyís Progressive geometry.

Thanks for the reply, we ended up doing an air can service last night and itís good to go for now. I think a better shock is in the future at some point.

I did reach out to DVO and got the following response (quickly, as usual):

Thanks for reaching out Joe. Coil is amazing for traction, small bump compliance and bottom out resistance. It's weakness is in climbing as it is not efficient and weighs more. So it depends on how much climbing your buddy is doing and if he's willing to sacrifice one for the other. Some are more than willing to sacrifice for the benefits, and those like me who climb a lot to earn the DH, like the air shock better. Our Topaz is very good with small bump compliance and is almost coil like so if I were to recommend one or the other, I'd go air. Otherwise, they are both very good and it's up to him on final decision.

Let me know if you have more questions.

    I'd say Push 11-6 s really good. But it's stupidly expensive :P
    SO let's get real.
I replaced my Monarch RT3 with DVO Topaz and I was blown away! I had no idea I can have so much traction in corners. IT's an awesome shock. And air is lighter, and easier to tweak than coil.
Also, their customer service is best! I called them twice so far, both times I got a real human pick up the phone withing two rings!!
More you beef it up, more it will handle like a cow....:skep:

I did a monarch plus rc3 then sent it to Avalanche for a custom tune. Haven't looked back since.
Bender to AZDog: I'm not the best person to give advice on not riding!
