    Vegetarian diet plans anyone?

I was wondering if there are any good plans out there for vegetarians that ride the heck out of their bicycle.

Im currently a serious cyclist and I'm thinking about racing someday. By that time, I hope to have a sustainable diet that will keep me strong throughout my day, and throughout my ride (start to finish).

    Thanks!

I don't eat dead creatures, and I'm fine with ridin' all day, and racing.
Eat a banana, maybe a clif bar, go ride. That's my plan.

I never apologize. I'm sorry, but that's just the way I am.

Yah, I pretty much just eat a whole lot in my super high-volume training. Eat two breakfasts, hit up two-for-one nights at the local hippie food joints, keep a supply of Honey Stinger Protein bars around, that sort of thing.

the more I learn about nutrition and testing different meals/ideas before races the more I think it is a big deal and something to take seriously.

    word

Check out the previous thread for my spiel on veggie eating and bike racing.

Basically, it's no disadvantage. Get a handle on your caloric needs and caloric intake. Attend to the macronutrients you need to be eating everyday. Ride the hell out of your bike.

There's a big, and seemingly growing, contingent of vegetarian and vegan cyclists (at least in the Northeast, and I'm sure on the West Coast as well). You're in good company.

Well, there's a whole team of vegan cyclists in CA, isn't there?

    Yep. Organic Athlete. www.teamvegan.org

The elite team is based in CA and there's a whole bunch of amateur teams throughout the country. I raced road with the NYC-based squad last summer. Great bunch of folks!
