    Using hamstring muscles

    Riding my new bike (04 Stumpry FSR) I have notice that it seems like I'm using my hamstring muscles more than on my old bike.
    I know it's a good thing,but what is the reason or reason for this?
    I'm sure there are various factors in bike set up that would cause this.
    Any info would be helpful.

    your top tube might be shorter causing you to "cramp up" a little more.

    If your saddle is too far back you could be reaching for the pedals with your toes, causing you to pull a bit more with the hamstrings... this is just conjecture though, I have no idea if that is the case. Did you set up your new bike exactly like your old one? Have you thought about a professional bike fitting? I had just my cleats/seat height done and the difference in my power output was dramatic. Great bike, btw. Good luck.
