    Wife needs a new bike

    Hello ladies we’re searching for a new bike for my wife. She currently has a 2011 26” Giant Women’s Anthem... I showed her the Liv bikes thinking she’d like a similar bike and she doesn’t like any of the colors... so shot down in flames here. She wants something that looks ‘girly’ her words lol. 120-140mm travel, no 29ers and we’re trying to stay in the $2k’ish range. I started scouring the internet last night... but I need some help on makes/models to show her so we can find a shop with one to test ride.

    How tall is she? What sort of riding does she like and where does she ride. If you go back through a lot of the posts, you'll find a huge amount of good advice. I'm sure that the more information you can include, the more people can help.
    Maybe the non-WS Giants could work. They are great bikes.
    And....what's her favorite color (I'm not kidding - heck, it's important to me. I love my green Trance, but it's a 29er!)?

    Yeah I’m dumb and forgot that stuff. She’s 5’4” and she’s not into technical riding, so we keep to XC type riding when she’s out. Tires never leave the ground. Colors she like are pink, purple, turquoise and maybe a bright blue.

    Maybe look for a SC Juliana Furtado...my wife loves hers...same exact frame as a 5010 (130/125mm f/r) so check that as well as those colors are in the Santa Cruz repertoire. My wife is 5’5” and takes a medium, probably the size you’d want as well.
    Never underestimate an old man with a mountain bike.

    Turquoise = Yeti, but that = $$
    Maybe used? My lovely bride loves her SB5.

    I love my 2020 Liv Intrigue Advanced 1. It's $$$ though and black. Sparkly rainbow black, but still black so maybe not what she is looking for. The other models have pretty, girly colours though, and lots of blues and turquoises. Does she not like any of them? I don't blame her for not settling for a colour that she doesn't like. I wouldn't buy a colour that I didn't like either.

    I had a 2015 Liv Lust that I loved too but was looking for a little more bike. I demoed so many bikes last summer while trying to figure out what I wanted but none of them felt perfect until I got to demo the Intrigue. You can find my post in this forum where I wrote my thoughts about each of the bikes that I tried. I can't say enough good things about Giant and Liv bikes and you won't get a better bang for your buck anywhere.

    I know you said no 29ers, but these ones are built for women and I know lots of short women who love them. The colour is pretty too.

    You can probably get good deals on 2019 models too.

    Last year's Pique with 27.5" wheels

    Thank you for your reply. I had actually read some of your posts when I searched for Liv. I really thought she’d be all for one... so I just kinda didn’t know what to do after she said no to the colors. LoL She rode a lot of bikes yesterday and while we were at a trek store she finally said ‘I want a 29er’. I learned a long time ago: happy wife, happy life... lol

    Absolutely! Loving your bike is so important to the overall enjoyment of it. I'm happy that she got a chance to try a bunch and found one that she loves!

    Sounds like pink accessories... pedals, grips, seat, housings and maybe chain ring and jockey wheels if I can find em.
