    underwear

I have a disagreement with my wife. I always ride comando + spandex. About to do a 8-10mi with our 6 year old. She extra small so about the best available pants are spandex with no shammy. No underwear, correct? Wife and child think I'm nuts. IMO, underwear is about the same as sticking your hand down the garbage disposal and flicking the switch.
(Wife is not a cycling and doughter often complain about ouch but.)

Running out of time, this is not a troll.
    "Boy-short" underwear with stretch pants?

Daughter wants to wear underpants but they bunch up and kind of give a vagina weggie abrasion.
I bought a highly rated kids seat but need some help on shorts.
She is smaller than the average 6 year old, hard to find bike specific pants that fit.

Thanks MSU, if I was less random, I'd be legit.

You are 100% correct. but not sure if underwear advice from strangers will be welcome, even women strangers. Also check her seat height, I've seen folks with too high seats and they have to shift back and forth which looks super uncomfortable. Many kids can ride anything wearing anything, but if she has had issues it would be great if you could find some bike shorts that fit and she would try commando. Maybe a cool jersey so she has a whole kit like the racers wear would help her not think it is nuts.

I would think *someone*, REI comes to mind, would make kids gear.

We have 2 kids who are 8 (boy) and 10 (girl). We have been riding for 2 years, so the youngest would have been 6 when we started. None of us wear "bike" shorts. None of us wear padded shorts. I often wear leggings, but my daughter wears shorts, jeans, regular pants, you name it. We ride far and hard, and a 30 km day of riding single track in the mountains is not uncommon for us. We all wear underwear all of the time. I have never once heard my daughter (or my son, or my husband) complain about her underwear or her shorts/pants/leggings bothering her. Personally, I just make sure that I am wearing underwear that doesn't have wide, thick seams on them. The only time I have ever felt discomfort was after riding 250 km of trails in 10 days.

I say let your daughter wear whatever she is (or isn't) comfortable wearing.

Thanks for replying. Probably should have posted this in Family and Riding with Kids Page. I let it slide, said nothing. wear whatever you want aproch.
We had fun practicing coasting out of the sadle. Probably the best skill to get comfortable with regardless of what you cover your but with.

I would vouch for the moisture wicking spandex
