That was quick. I wonder if Thomson made them stop.

I find it kind of hard to believe that they were OEM posts. Which manufacturer would have stock of so many different sizes?

I ordered a couple. We'll see if they actually show up and whether they show any evidence of having been installed.

All the 27.2 straight posts were gone within 30 min of me posting this up

I'm betting there will be plenty for sale on Ebay here in a week or two.

Yeah - I agree.. the number of sizes was strange... and a Thomson is a pretty chi-chi post - usually on the bikes they strip and part out, you get a bunch of Kalloy or Easton EA30's.

I had a list of all the parts I needed to get the stable ready for spring. It took me a total of a week to find them all on some ridiculous closeout. Hell - 2 days.

So much for internet shopping this winter.

They probably average $50-$55 on ebay, after taking all the fees (and the shipping from jenson) and the pain in the butt to go to the post office and ship during the holiday season it isnt even worth it, probably net $5 on each one not including your time answering 50 questions and sending extra pics

That can be $5 to someone's unemployment check.
What do I know, ask the "experts"!

Jenson just called. I thought for sure they were calling to tell me my order had been canceled, but they were just verifying the billing address. Maybe they'll get the posts sent out today.

In my excitement yesterday, I forgot to say thanks to forkboy for calling this to our attention, so thanks for calling it to our attention, forkboy.

    Wow! That was fast.

To me, that pretty much confirms that they're not OEM posts. There's no reason they'd waste money on a bag.

Doesn't it mean that they are OEM ? Isn't Thompson the Original Equipment Manufacturer?

OEM in this case means that they were intended for use by another manufacturer. For example, say Specialized has a bunch of posts leftover that they were intending to use on last year's model. They could dump them to Jenson and have Jenson sell them off. Or maybe Jenson had a bunch of bikes that they were parting out. They take the Thomson posts and sell them as "OEM"or "take-offs." That might not meet the strictest definition of OEM, but it's not uncommon and clearly how Jenson uses the term.

If I had to take a guess, I'd bet that Jenson wanted to create some traffic for their website and took a bunch of new retail packaged products and sold them as OEM in an attempt to avoid violating their minimum pricing agreement with Thomson. Someone at Thomson got wind and put a halt to it.

Thanks for the clarification on the OEM definition, I had not heard that acronym used that way. Autoparts are either OEM, made by the original manufacturer or After Market, a secondary manufacturer that produces like product.

I have a feeling that the Thompson seatposts may have been a typo by someone at Jenson as quick as the price went back up to normal price.

    You're welcome!

Yep - got mine in on Friday. Brand new. Maybe it's just me, but a Thomson post just makes the whole bike look better.
