Merlincycles still a great place for drivetrains

They are out of their groupset packages.

I noticed that I could buy all the individual parts for XT for less ($300 bought individually, vs $400 if you buy as a groupset)

    XT brakes $200

    XT 2x11 - 97 (118 if you get the 1x11)
    xt lever 41
    xt cassette 75
    xt derailleur 65
    xt chain 20

No restrictions, shipping time varies, ranges from 7-21 days so as long as you aren't in a rush they are great.

My last Merlin order (placed 3 weeks ago) arrived in Tucson 6 calendar days later. It arrived before the Universal Cycles order placed the same day!

That was w/ the DHL Express shipping option.

I just put one $35 item in my cart and the only shipping option is the DHL Express to the US at $26. I checked sometime around the end of March after Covid started and the cheapest shipping was $18. The last order I placed was back in early March and shipping was the normal $7-8, but I received free shipping over $50 I believe and this is long gone for now.

Some groups have changed significantly since their last inventory. In March, the full SLX groupset included the 4 piston brakes and ice tech rotors for a total of $425. Now, that group uses the 2 piston brakes, no rotors, and is priced at $465. That's a HUGE change in value.
Beware the photo, which still shows rotors and 4P brakes.
Exchange rates affect this, but they've been pretty close to 0.8:1 most of this period (exception being a brief spike to 0.87:1 for ~ a week) so they only account for 3-4% of this variance.

Admittedly still the cheapest option, but should that stop us from complaining?

The free shipping threshold for USA appears to be $400 now.
I don't blame them for only offering the DHL Express option at this point. Many low cost paths (which utilize passenger airlines for flights) are severely disrupted right now. The DHL Express choice is consistently fast.
