Why do modern hubs sound like I taped a playing card to buzz against the tire?

I get that the modern hubs ratchet over 900 times per rotation compared to the 5 on my old rear hub (hyperbole of course, but still on point), but why are the new hubs sooo loud? Are they all like that? I may need a new rear hub soon but Iím thinking twice if it means my bike sounds like a turbo rattlesnake when I stop pedaling?

is the newest XT HG hub as loud as the other bikes I hear on the trails today?

To remind you to keep pedaling.

Quiet hubs are the new hot, and there's quite a few now... but they're for lazy endrobros who cant pedal

The new shimano is quiet, or silent if you modify it. Onyx is silent entirely. P231 can be ordered in a quiet version with 213poe. Theres a few more im forgetting too.

    quiet is OK.

Quiet is the new hot? My 20 year old XTR rear hub is quiet! I feel like I should tape a playing card to my fork so I can sound like all the modern bikes out there!

I want some hubs that play a tune, like the intro to crazy train or some other bad ass guitar riff.
