    Tire pressure question

    I'm running tubeless front and back. Do you vary the pressure in the tires, meaning do you run a higher pressure in the rear to help with climbing, and run a lower pressure in the front to help with gripping in the corners and handling?

    I run lower in the front because there's generally less weight on it and I'm better at lifting the front wheel over obstacles than I am lifting the rear.
    Do the math.

    Yes, but not for the reason you called out.
    Your weight is going to be more over the rear tire than the front.
    So you end up needed more pressure in the rear than the front.
    You'll find this experimentally too, the pressure that stops bottoming out the rim hard tends to be higher in the rear tire for most people.
    And the pressure that stops the tire from squirming in corners tends to be higher in the rear.

    To figure out my pressures I either increase my pressures until I stop bottoming out or squirming or decrease my pressures until these two things happen then go back up a little bit.

    Lots of variables but I prefer rear to be slightly higher pressure than front. Only a couple of psi difference for me (20-22 rear / 18-20 front). Primarily because my riding technique and terrain is best ridden with center of gravity being more toward the rear than the front. For what it's worth, I've found climbing is better with as low a pressure as possible on rear (wider footprint = better traction on rocks/roots).

    That being said, there is a fine line between just right and too low a pressure where the tire begins to loose stability side to side. Everyone is different...you need to find what combination works best for you.

    I run 30psi rear, 20 front. Im more likely to smash my rear rim. That's about as low as I can go on both sides without ruining stuff.

    Thank you. I tried this as a starting point and it felt good.
