    Onza Ibex 2.4, optimal IW

    Hello fellow riders.

I reached out to Onza regarding IW optimal widths for Ibex 2.4's but have yet to receive a response. Does anyone run this tire spec with 35mm IW wheels? If so, care to comment on the setup? Thanks in advance.

I know guys running 2.4in tires and narrower on rims that are 35mm inner width and they are happy with the performance. It often comes down to user preference and many reviews are fairly subjective. As far as the relative width of your tire to your rim width, it is no less than the width of cyclocross or gravel tires relative to rim width.

Onza rep response for all interested.

"For our IBEX tires in 2.40” width, we recommend a rim width of 25 – 35mm. The rim width doesn’t change the overall appearance of the tire tread very much, so the IBEX is a tire which can be ridden with small or quite large rims. I was trying it our even on a 40mm rim (inner width) and it worked quite well... :-)"

I've been running the Ibex 2.4 on Spank Oozy trail 295 rims which I think are only 25mm. I honestly forget. But I have no complaints. Whether they are aired up or not, it doesn't seem like the tire changes shape.
    LOVE THE RIDE!

I have run them previously on 20mm IW rims without issue. Love the Canis and Ibex. The re-vitalized Onza is the "new" Maxxis....
