    Mutano Raptor Replacement

Hi everyone - I have a bike that I clearly haven't changed the tires on in a long time... but it has the WTB Mutano Raptor 2.4's and I love them. I can drop the pressure way down, they have a lot of cushion, they're light, they look boxy and big, and they're also apparently discontinued. Can anyone recommend a similar replacement? Something with the width, cushion, kevlar, and lightness? I'm still on 26" wheels. Like I said, it's been a while. Thank you for any help and ideas.

Also, are the Moto Raptors similar? Found one on ebay, but it sounds like it's a heavier tire.

    Thank you

moto raptor is not the tire you want. I would check out the Ardent 2.4 if I was looking for something to cross over. Or the trail blazer from WTB is a great all around tire along the same lines.

I used to love those tires when I had a 26in bike. The other tire I found that was just as big and similar characteristics is the 26 x 2.4in Continental X-king tube-type - I made it tubeless with lots of sealant.

Note, the 29 x 2.4in x-king is very narrow for some reason, nothing like the big-volume of the 26in version.

The Mutano - Blast from the past !!!

I may still a one or two in a box somewhere and will pm you if I can find them.

The modern day equivalent I'd say is the Maxxis Ardent 2.4. But not sure its made in a 26". If you can find Schwalbe tires in a 26" their 2.35" tires are very plump.

Specialized ground control in 2.3 is comparable-ish.

The mutano was cool in its time, but dont hesitate too much to go with a more modern tire. New tires may be a little heavier, but they do roll better these days.

I think if you choose a reasonable modern tire, you're going to be surprised. Xking is a great recommendation too. Ardent too. Or an ikon in the rear and something else up front. You've got tons of options and I doubt any of them are going to let you down! The mutano is gone because it doesnt really stand up compared to whats out there now.
