Caution; Merge; Workers Ahead! Los Angeles commuting - Recommend inexpensive durable road tires for MTN bike (26")

I use my GT avalanche 3.0 to commute and it currently has 26x2.1 knobbies. Problem is, i commute 21 miles to work...one way. Recommend me some decent road/street tires that can handle:

    -glass
    -bumps in sidewalk/street
    -small holes
    -pebbles
-whatever else hazards is in Downtown Los Angeles.

    I need something thats:

-better than my rolling resistance now
    -durable, won't puncture easily
    -last long

    Thank you.

Are all Tioga City Slicker tires built with kevlar lining?

My LBS has them for 28$ a piece. Anywhere else I can find them? Tioga site doesnt have a Find Dealer option

    Or even Forte' Gotham's?

Would it be better to mix and match the two? Forte's seem like hybrids with more grip, would those be suitable for front or back?

So you're assuming cheaper tire is going to give me flats? The Tiago's have kevlar lining and good reviews. As do the gothams.

This is my first set of road tires, i'd appreciate a more thorough explanationto why those are the best..

I don't hink they are the best...

Sport Contact 6000 km 3 years (one pinch flat my fault)....My commute ends at a bottle depot....kinda get a lot of broken glass back there.

    I see. Thanks for that.

because of lack of funds, i think i'm going to go the cheaper route and just ride carefully.
