Lets talk tires. Non-black tire looks that is. What's your favorite?

Ok, so most mtb tires are straight black with black sidewalls, maybe you find it boring, or want to bling up your ride what are your options?
Lets talk about some tires that are different colors, colored sidewalls, 26 or 29.

Without researching all the individual options, how about we consolidate that info for those interested.

And, even if they look pretty, how do they perform?
Are any of them worth using?
    Are any of them good?

Obvious first one i can think of are the panaracer fire xc, red, blue, yellow sidewall options. High rolling resistance, but good in the loose stuf, longrr lasting and 1.8,2.1 and 2.4 sizes.

A newer tire are the nobby nics and racing ralphs, with a few different color options and sizes, how are these?

    Not

Maxxis Ardents are great 29er tires, and they now come in skinwalls

I wish Michelin would bring back the green tires from the 90s. Those things had some serious grip to them.

I remember those Michelin's, wild somethings, they also came in red I believe. Those were cool.

There isn't even a maker for a solid red MTB tire anymore is there? All I see are cruiser treads in 26". I've been hunting for a red tire for weeks now, and I just dont think they make any. Trying to get them to match my bike to the kid's bike, but I don't think I'm gonna be able to.

Another option in redwall is the Hutchinson Cobra, looks like a low resistance lightweight XC tire with snakeskin sidewalls, tubeless compatible. These look nice..

I had red silica compound Michelin tires, terrible on wet roots and rocks. Like super scary slippery in those conditions.

I'm sure they were good somewhere, but not in the PNW

Natural skinwall is my favorite. Most current performance tires are still skinwalls with the casing dyed black or with a VERY thin layer of rubber. It is purely cosmetic.

Any colored compound is less grippy than a similar black compound.

    Black tread. Natural casing. Go.

Michelin WildGripper JetS - Green Tires

I'm running the Michelin WildGripper JetS - Green tires on my Diamondback Odyssey. Wish they still made them. I like the contrast from every other bike out there.

The new Micheln Wild Grip'R returns to its former glory and then some. Plus it comes in every color so long as its black.............but it would be cool if they brought back the green rubber. But I agree with Shiggy, adding color may compromise the compound or it may not. I'm not a material scientists but I can play one in a porno.
