E*13 TRS Race/DT Swiss 240 wheelset and TRS tires - keep or swap out?

I have a new bike on the way spec’ed with an E*13 TRS Race/DT Swiss 240 Wheelset and 2.35 TRS tires (Race front, + rear). I will need to decide very quickly whether I want to keep the wheelset and/or tires, or swap them out.

185 lbs with gear, western Canadian Rockies terrain. On my previous bike I ran an Enve AM/DT Swiss 240 wheelset and a 2.5/2.35 DHF/DHR 2 combo.

It seems to me that both the TRS wheelset and tires are on the heavy side. I have read in other threads how some love the grip of the tires. I haven’t come across too much about the wheelset.

If anyone has any experience with the wheelset, your comments would be most appreciated, including any suggestions regarding alternatives. Same applies re the tires, although it appears that the long and short of it is that they are very grippy, and very heavy.

I am looking to cut some weight possibly, provided I don't compromise too much in other areas.

    Thanks.

DT hubs are very reliable, the tires are great, and I don't know anything about the rims.

Thanks. I did a bit more searching and reading. Looks like the wheelset and tires will be heavy, but good to excellent in all other respects. The lifetime warranty on the rims will encourage me to ramp things up even more on the trail, at nice low pressures.

Apart from converting it to tubeless and changing the grips and saddle, it looks like this will be the first bike in the the last 6 or more that I will not be screwing around with when it arrives at the LBS, swapping this and that.

    Pretty much good to go.

I demoed a Wreckoning with the E13 tires and it rolled on par with Minion DHR/F, which is good enough for me.

The tires will be like running a DHR2 3c front 2c in the back.

Excellent. Given that I have been running a DHF/DHR 2 combo for the past several years, this should be great. Certainly good enough to give them a shot and not swap them out at the front end.

Totally stoked. My soon-to-arrive bike will remain pretty much stock spec.

    Thanks guys. Much appreciated.
