    Budget 29+ wheelset

Curious to hear some opinions on the hubs I will end up with if I spend <$300 on my 29+ wheelset. The budget is tight because all I have is a frame - I need everything. With that said I don't want to end up buying a new hub within 3 months. I don't really care that much about weight FWIW. I'm also not in any hurry to complete the build.

    Options are:
    1) Origin8 hubs w/ i40 Scrapers WTB Scraper i40 29er Mountain Bike Wheelset 32h Wheels 6B Boost [741549] - $199.00 : Worldwide Bicycle Shop, fixed gear track bike wheelsets campagnolo super record vintage bike
    2) Bontrager hubs w/ Duroc 50's that are on the stock Stache builds
    3) Ibis 938 - though I am kind of wanting i40 minimum for my front rim to run 29x3.25

Both 2 & 3 I would be getting used on Pinkbike.

Another thought is to pickup a slightly dinged ARC 35 with a Hope Pro 4 rear and possibly run a "boostinator" on my current 15 x 100 Duroc 35 / DT 350 wheel till I can find a deal on a wider rim and something cheap like an XT hub. The price would be great if the ARC 35 rim held out for awhile - as I know the hub will.

I'm happy with those same wheels on my Stache and I'm running 29x3.25 Crux

    1. Shockingly cheap, probably fine but on the heavy side and use strait gauge spokes.

    2. I don't know anything about those hubs but the rims are great.

    3. You found Ibis wheels for under $300? Regardless, you will NEVER be able to tell the difference between i38 and i40 rims. 2mm is not noticeable at that width.

    4. Sounds reasonable, depending.
    Rigid SS 29er
    SS 29+
    Fat Lefty
    SS cyclocross
    Full Sus 29er (Yuck)

Stop asking how much it weighs and just go ride it.

The Ibis 938 are i34 internal, but I would imagine for the most part that you are right and the difference is negligible. The <$300 price tag would be for a used set.

I'm currently most intrigued with a Duroc 50 set that comes with Chupacabras since I dont see many good deals on 29x3 tires.

That first set seems like a great deal, has me wanting to buy them and I donít even have a frame for them!
