    A week on Vancouver Island

    I'm going to spend the better part of a week on Vancouver island for a family vacation. but, I'm planning to spend 1 night up in Whistler.
    First, I have a choice between a Stumpjumper or a Demo 8, which would you bring?}
    I normally ride Mammoth and Northstar during the summers. Mammoth is ride-able on a SJ FSR, but Northstar is far better on a DH bike.

    Second, any trails to recommend on Vancouver island?

    I have not mtbd in that area, but I know there is some good riding. Check with Vikb in the Knolly forum. Get Trailforks if you don't have it already.

    The only dh park riding on the island is mount Washington, 3 hours from Victoria. Or shuttling at Prevost, but on a family vacation it would be hard to sort out shuttles.

    Bring stumpy, ride Hartland and harbourview near Victoria, or maple mountain (the maple syrup trail is one of my favourites) and tzouhalem (double dog is short and sweet) if you want to drive a little further, then rent DH bike for whistler?

    There's more great riding further up the island if you want to drive 3 hours or so in Cumberland, Campbell River

    Thank you, I'll check it out.

    Yeah, that is the way I'm leaning. Seems like I couldn't get allot more use out of the Stumpy. Use it to explore Whistler on day 1 then rent a bike on day 2 if needed. Thanks again for the help, I'll check out those trails for sure.
