    Squamish mid April

Some friends and I are thinking of going to Whistler from April 14-23. Plan is to do sking mostly, but perhaps some biking as well if relatively warm. Was thinking it night be too early for Whistler, but perhaps Squamish might have some stuff available. Preference is for cross country and not terribly technical. Any advice or info welcome.

Maybe, that's the best you could say this far out. In a normal snowfall year the lower XC trails are often clear in March, in a heavy snowfall year there could still be snow in April in shadier spots. But we have had spring time dumps of snow in April.

The lower trails will be the trails around Alice Lake up as high as Cliff's and Rob's corners, most of those are between 150m and 400m elevation with a nice are selection of green and blue trails.

This is the highway camera for the Alice Lake intersection on why 99. If you can see any snow in this shot, there will be snow in the woods on the trails all the way down to the highway.

Heavy snow year in late March 2011, same trail at Alice Lake (50m higher and the trails were fully covered in snow)

Squamish will be good to go in April. The only way it is not clear in Mid-April is if we are in the middle of Nuclear Winter.

Any idea whether there's a place to rent bikes within riding distance of these or other good cross country trails? We will be flying into Vancouver, and probably won't have a vehicle that will hold all of the bikes. Thanks

Trip is on. Still wondering whether there is a place to rent bikes that you can ride to trails. Also, could there be any trails rideable in Whistler at that time?

It's very likely a few trails in Whistler will be melted, I was just curious and found a shot on a friends Instagram of our first ride March 23rd last season in lost lake trails, last year it got pretty warm in mid March, tons of snow this year but mid April is far off.

For rentals I really don't know, call corsa and Tantalus bike shops to ask? If you're not a wuss you could ride to all the trails from either of those shops although Tantalus would be closer
