New question here. Sooke to Shawnigan Lake.... trail?

Like to know if there is a trail between Sooke (Leech town) and Shawnigan Lake.Yesterday talking to a person from the Victoria Bicycle Coalition had heard of a trail route exsists using logging roads and single track.A river has to be crossed at some point,deepth?...seasonal crossing!
I thought it was impassable due to the CRD Water District being fenced in. If passable are maps available? Any input appreicated!

yeah, there are logging roads that cut through the water shed. If I recall correctly, you have to cross a bridge over the river fairly early on. We did a loop from victoria to sooke on the goose then accross the shawnigan then back to vic on the highway. About 7-8 hours on mountain bikes... cross bikes would be faster.
Bring lots of food, and keep an eye out for bears.
There arent many people around since you arent actually supposed to be allowed in the water shed.
Never found any single track. We arrived just north of shawnigan on some active logging roads, maybe there is a different and better route that has some better trails and arrives right at the lake or at the south end there before you climb up to the Malahat.

Yes, that's pretty much the only way for the loop. There have been talks about actually making a two-lane bike trail that hits Spectacle lake to Sooke off of Shawnigan-Mill Bay Road, next to Kelsey. The problem is that they don't believe enough people will use it to be worth it, and a quarter of the trail would be under power lines.
