Solo in West Bragg Creek trails?

I am not a Calgary native. I want to check out West Bragg Creek trails, but I usually ride solo around town at Bowmont, Eastlands, and Nose HIll, on a hardtail.

Is going solo to West Bragg Creek a death wish? I've never been out there. Are there bears? Any other need to know info before riding solo out there?

I saw photos and maps at the West Bragg Creek trails website and it looks awesome, and the town of Bragg Creek is only 30-40 min drive from my house in the NW.

WBC is one of the safest places I can think of to ride solo. It gets very busy on weeknights and weekends. It's a fun place to ride if you are not looking for solitude.

Always a good idea regardless of where you ride.

I can't believe how quietly folks ride in these parts. I am constantly coming across people who are riding along in complete silence. I was recently "shoosh'd" by an angry MAMIL on a trail with an active bear warning. He said he could hear me "miles away". He must have thought I was shouting for extra cardio. If I'm on the trail you'll hear me.

Go for it if you ride after work you will not be alone...probably not alone on the weekends either.

There was a wolf out there a while ago, and apparently a bear as well.

I'm out there solo all the time and have never seen a sign of a bear. Cows, though, are a different story. I almost T-boned one last week that suddenly ran across the trail in front of me when I was moving at speed. I completely locked up the wheels and narrowly avoided it.

The other danger is copious amounts of horse $hit on certain trails like Boundary Ridge. It's not easy cleaning that stuff off once it dries.

Yup... Evenings and weekends it's like a party out there scaring away the wildlife. The parking lot will be full with about 100 cars.
Screw the shuttle, I'm riding to the top. You're all worthless and weak!!!
