Scenic XC trails near Vancouver/Squamish - early October

My husband will be heading up to Vancouver the first week of October (leaving on a cruise from there). We're wanting to head up a few days early to do some riding - will plan on renting bikes up there. We are good technical riders but really want to hit the more scenic XC trails (as opposed to spending all day riding lifts). We were thinking of renting a place in Squamish, but we really have no idea where a good central location may be to stay, depending on where the good XC trails are. Can anybody offer any advice? Thanks in advance!

Squamish is small enough that any place you rent in Squamish or Brackendale is close to trails.

The challenge with the forest density in this part of the world is that scenic views are rare, there's lots of views of trees. There's lots of scenic views of forest, and glimpses of big views but it's harder to find big sweeping panoramas.

    Pemberton has some epic views.

I dunno, the view along the clear part of the climb towards psuedo psuega and stuff is pretty good if you haven't seen it before.

Lord of the squirrels is awesome and super scenic, might not be good to go in October, and depending on your experience it's a tough ride.

If you wanted the most scenic riding experience in the possible do a float plane trip with tyax adventures in the chilcotins. Although again October could be hit or miss.

Yeah October is going to be hard to get up high. The trails could be really good, they could also suddenly get a couple feet of snow overnight that time of year. If they're good, Lord of the Squirrels would work, be ready to climb! (if you've only ridden flatter areas this climb could be quite eye opening)

As for Squamish, there are nice patches of scenery, largely dense forest though! But the trails are so good. The Chief is a pretty short hike that should get you in a good helping of scenery, can easily be done in an afternoon apres ride. Scenery can be highly dependent on weather though, summer is relatively dry, but come October there can be some pretty damn wet weather, you could be there for a week and not see a blue sky at any point.

Take the climb trail to the top of Meadow of the Grizzly, lots of great views on the way up (and down), also, you can ride up to Elfin Lakes from the top parking lot (XC ride with great views, should be clear of snow in October)
