    Riding in Castlegar

I have a quick trip to Castlegar planned this weekend and I thought I'd bring my bike. Any recommendations for some XC riding in the area?

    Thanks!

Seven Summits trail is not too far from Gar. Logistics involved if you want to ride the whole thing. Rossland is a half hour drive. Lots of trails there.

Thanks. I'm only in Castlegar for a day on business so I thought I might check out any local trails (2-3 hours) in the immediate vicinity. I look forward to returning to Rossland another time (I was there twice last year).

There are three trails I have found some info on in Castlegar:

    Meldiana
    Beevs (Beaver Trails)
    Merry Creek

    Any opinions or alternative suggestions?

mel deanna is a fun quick xc rip and just outside of town up at the lookout on the way to salmo. it's made for hikers, but a ton of fun on the bike. (under an hour)

beevs are just overgrown skid roads up near the woodland drive area. located below merry creek trails via snail's trail (fun steep trail that is marked on merry creek by "mountain bike trail" sign)

merry creek is fun...nothing technical, but close to town and a good view of castlegar. accessed by merry creek fsr on hwy 3 on way to christina lake (under an hour)

check out the trail listings on mtbr for goose creek. awesome local ride in the pass creek area. not exactly well marked, but the directions in the traill listing should help. pm me if you have questions on how to get there. (couple hours if you are biking up the fsr)

edit: added time estimates and extra info
