Planning a mtb trip to the Rockies (where to start)

    Hi,

I'm planning a mountain bike trip in western Canada (I'm from Québec) and I'm not sure where I should go exactly. I've been reading trail reviews here on mtbr.com but I find it hard to plan a trip based on that alone (I've done it in the past). So any information, link or advice will be very appreciated.

Oh and also, since I'll be there for about 2 weeks I would definitely like to do more than ride my bike.

    Thanks!

    Jon

Forgot to mention, I'm looking for XC trails, not DH.

    Thanks

Well drive from Calgary to Bragg Creek then go to Station Flats, and follow any MTB rider up the mountain....

    Try this link http://www.cmbalink.com/taxonomy/term/8

There is a book I forget the name with all the trails in it....somebody will mention it.

    what locations?

    banff? jasper? golden? fernie?

look at the transrockie 2010 route, and the older route too for ideas.

ride banff: lake minniwanka or upper and lower stoney squaw

then move to golden and ride revelstock and golden

    back to invermere/kimberly
