    NSMBA Newsletter - APRIL 2005

First, apologies in advance for such a long newsletter but it will be
our first of the year and we have a lot to tell you about. As always
for the most current information see for more information.

    Winter Highlights

We have had a busy winter while the rest of you were looking for snow!!
More details will be forthcoming via press release.

    * The NSMBA has secured funding support from the BC Gaming
    Commission for work on CBC!
    * We are being supported by MEC in establishing a network of Markers
(Search and Rescue Location Markers) throughout the trails on
Seymour to help riders locate themselves should they find
themselves in need of Search and Rescue aid.
    * We are working with MEC, the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve,
District of North Vancouver and BC Parks in updating their maps
and erecting new Kiosks at the CBC and Mushroom parking lots.
    * We will be working with the DNV in building and maintaining a bike
park in the Inter-river area of North Van.
    * CBC was temporarily closed during the winter to undergo some major
work. It has seen some huge changes over the winter. Jeremy,
Lester and their crew have done some awesome work with the kind
assistance of the LSCR! For more information on the work we have
    done see here -

As always, we have trail days planned, Rippers to put on, and Toonie
    races to hold.

Additionally, the NSMBA has been present at Council meetings and the
District of North Vancouver's Alpine Recreation Strategic Study
meetings. These meetings are an important step in defining the future
    of Mt Fromme. Please see
    <> for more information on
    getting involved

A special congratulations is due to our very own Jay Hoots who received
the inaugural North Shore Community Stewardship Award at the annual
