Late May - where to ride in BC?

So I've got time for a long weekend trip up to BC from Seattle in mid-late May.

I'm an XC rider looking for some epic trials, 30-40 mile back country routes. I'm a reasonable (but slow) 'wheels on the ground' kind of rider, and I can handle steepish rocky/rooty descents (plus I know when it's time to walk).

I was thinking of Squamish or Whistler (outside of the bike park).

I'm open to suggestions of where to go/what to ride.

    Thanks!

    Robert

Luckily your May long weekend and our May long weekend don't overlap so both Squamish and Whistler should be in good shape and not heavily packed at that time of year, could be wet as it has been a very soggy winter and that could keep going into Spring.

Pemberton trails have been perfect lately. Haven't ridden squamish in a while. May is far off, conditions could be anything. The sea to Sky area would be great to visit, maybe staying right in Whistler (as long as you aren't here during the Canadian long weekend) would be fun, renting a DH bike and trying the bike park is amazing no matter what type of rider you are. Trails to ride is hard to suggest, too many. Pemberton has great options for bigger rides, though looks like you'll be here during the race so that could affect options.
