Going to be in Sqaumish and Vancouver next week..
Will the trails in the area still be rideable? I'm coming from Chicago, and will need to rent a bike.

Trails close for the winter around my area for the most part, but I don't know what the situation is like in Vancouver. Should I just try and ski instead? :)

    Thanks.

So far this winter has been a dud as far as snow goes. High pressure building at the moment, trails should be nicely freeze dried. That can change very quickly though.

This week the riding will still be insanely good. It's crazy

You might be in luck... Gonna be cold and crisp, but dry.

The weather right now in North Van has been cold for the region. The trails are dry, very dry, with the exception of ice build up in a few locations.

The trails are FAST right now, but it looks like the warmer wetter weather is coming in. If you like true XC riding, there is a great network of trails that can make for at least 2 days worth of riding on Mt Seymour alone. If the weather man is right, it will be cold and wet down low, which is usual for the area. Likewise, you can ride some of the gravity trails as well. (Ned's, Dale's Trail, new and great, and so many more)
Many new trails on Seymour, which is where I usually ride.
Not sure about Squamish. Might honestly want to phone the Tantalus bike shop in Squamish re. that.
No harm in trying to ride while here, but it is getting dark by 4.
    PM me with any questions

Thanks for all the replies guys. I'm here now. This is a beautiful area. And the locals are very friendly. Rather different from my home town :)

Anyway, I didn't do too much research, but from what I found it seems most bike shops stop renting bikes in the Fall. Although I never tried to contact any of them by phone. I know the snow conditions aren't great, but I'm heading up to Whistler this weekend. Chose to ski over bike. It was just easier to bring my ski equipment then biking equipment. I will definitely be back here in the summer though.

    Good beer too!

Right on, have a good weekend. Afraid the conditions arent that great. Probably the worst start to a ski season in a long time. Hit the Dublin Gate pub for some tastie brews and fine food.
