Fernie Alpine Resort Gears Up For Another Legendary Summer

The snow has melted and it is time for Fernie Alpine Resort to ramp up into Legendary Summer with lift-accessed hiking and guided tours and of course, amazing mountain biking trails for all levels to enjoy! Opening day is scheduled for Saturday June 27 with lift operations running Thursday through to Sunday plus holidays including: July 1 (Canada Day), Aug 3 (Civic Holiday) and Sept 5-7 (Labour Day Weekend).

    Operation Hours Include:

    Elk Chair:
    Thurs: 10am – 7pm
    Fri – Sun & Holidays: 10am – 4:30pm

    Timber Chair:
    Sat – Sun & Holidays: 10am – 4pm

With one of the largest lift-accessed trail networks in Western Canada, Fernie Alpine Resort’s variety of 37 bike trails offers something for every skill level. A brand new green trail: Ben's Big Rig, which is accessible from the Elk Chair, is a great new addition for the less experienced rider. While new features on Playground and the skills progression park add to the variety and fun-factor that Fernie's Bike Park has to offer.

Maintenance efforts will continue to develop trail integrity and making any improvements where necessary. Says Marc Ledoux, Bike Park Supervisor at Fernie Alpine Resort, "This summer, the crew will focus on our old trails that are in need of some love. Many trails will see small re-routes to better improve the flow and old worn out ladders and stunts will be replaced."

Fernie Alpine Resort has lots of great summer events planned including a kick-off to summer, special Community Appreciation Day on Sunday June 28th. This event not only celebrates the launch of the 2009 summer season but also says "Thank You" to the surrounding communities of Fernie, Sparwood, Elkford, Elko & Jaffray for their ongoing support. All residents from these communities are welcome to come out and celebrate with a complimentary ride up the scenic Timber Chair to the Lost Boys Café, a full day of mountain biking trail access on us with 25% discount on bike rentals for the day, or a mingle at the charity BBQ ($2 hamburgers and hot dogs, 11:00 am – 2:30 pm at Lost Boys Café) to see some familiar faces.
