    Edmonton Spring/ Summer 2018

First day of spring, welcome. As asked every year, when will all the snow melt?
I can't wait. The fatbike has been sitting still in garage since December. Have you been riding? I haven't, but can't wait till trails are dirt again.

Probably another month before things are set and ready to ride. One month delay is like 33.333% of our riding season.

Yay! Things are finally drying up!!! Where has everyone been riding? I've been sticking to the paved trails and Rundle Park. Excited to get back on the dirt though!

I've been updating trailforks with conditions. Everything on the North East end is good to go. Lots of stuff on the South West side is good to go. SE and NW will be a while.

Looking to buy a new full suspended 29er bike - what bike and tires is sufficient for Edmonton and surrounding area riding? I'm older, 44 years, a big guy, 6'4" 220lbs, and not too much money to spend, pref $2-3000. Thanks.

My husband is 6' tall, 220, and 40. He got a Norco Fluid 7.1+ last year and absolutely loves it. He finds it fantastic for the trails around Edmonton and also fantastic for the trails around Jasper. I know you said 29" tires, but he got the 27.5"+ tires and says he loves them. The outer diameter of the 27.5+ tire is the same as the outer diameter of a 29" tire. His bike is compatible with 29" tires if he wanted to swap them out, but I think you can also just get a model with 29" tires if that is what you are set on. He paid $2,400 new at United Cycle for it. He is on a size large.

In Edmonton you’d probably benefit from a short travel XC/trail category bike or even a hard tail but personally I much prefer a fs. At your size you might like 29+ bike and a Trek Stache seems quite popular choice. Trails are in amazing shape now. Hope you find something soon.
