    Camping Near Rossland ???

leaving Spokane on a Saturday heading to Revelstoke, but we have to leave later in the afternoon. So we're looking for a good, quick, campsite somewhere near Rossland or just after before we head on the highway to Revelstoke.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

It can be basically whatever, primitive is fine with us. Just somewhere easy to find, setup camp, sleep, and continue on.

    Thanks
    Charlie

The Lions Campground is right in Rossy. Top of the hill on hwy 22 just before town, right hand side. It's a lock of the hwy and hard to spot the sign. There are a couple of primitive sites near Nancy Greene summit on hwy3B as well as some pay campsites at the turnoff to Castlegar at junction of hwys 3B and 3(Nancy Greene recreation area?)

Lion's is a great campground too!
    Reasonably priced.
Free, clean showers and flush toilets.
Sadly, no more free wood. The lady that owns the campground said she was having too many problems with people stealing wood or campers filling up their trucks on their last night before heading to another town \ another campground.

From the Mining Museum / gas station junction drive back towards the border 200yds and it's on the left. Be vigilant about keeping your campsite clean, we've got more bears than usual roaming around town this year looking for a free meal. One that was getting aggressive was trapped and euthanized this week very close to the campground, the second one to be sent to bear heaven this year.
