    Camping in Golden BC

Hitting up Kicking Horse on our little road trip.
Where is good camping near Golden that isn't a ton of driving.
Something on a river or lake, primitive would be awesome.

    Thanks
    C

there's a wicked sweet little campground along the river...can't remember the name, but once off the highway, turn left immediately after crossing the river (9th st.) and follow the road east a short ways. can't miss it...it's pretty well at the dead end of the street. not primitive, but nice all the same.

Google maps lists the name as Golden Municipal Campground & RV Park, Golden, BC. (If you type it in it should give you a nice detailed map)

Some nice sites in the trees near the river or some more open areas also near the river for RV's. There's another campground a bit SE along the 95 called the eco-something-or-other, but it's not nearly as "primative" and seems to be more popular with the hang-gliding crowd.

If you're into DH and riding mount 7, don't miss the chance to ride the trail that drops to the campground in town. Nothing quite like getting dropped off on the side of the road, beating the truck back down at the end of the day, and watching from your camp chair with a half-empty bottle of beer in your hand as the driver pulls into your camp site...

Cedar lake campground is great, its located on the Kicking Horse access road at the same turn off for the Moonraker XC trails, basic but nice
