Best time of year to go to Whistler?

Two questions really, what are the best times to go to Whistler (and nearby areas) weatherwise, crowdwise, etc? Related, what time of year is the practical cutoff of being too late in the year because weather turns (snow)?

Go 2 weeks AFTER crankworx. Less crowds, trails are buffed. Don't wait too late, or else it
    can get wet.

Any xc trails open yet? I hope to get some riding in on my spring break ski trip in a couple of weeks.

September is the best time, less crowds in the bike park, no one in the valley, the trails have the ultimate traction due to moisture from the dew in the morning, the days are still long enough to get a **** ton of riding in....Pemberton and Squamish are prime as well...
