backcountry biking in the canadian rockies - gps tracks
    hi bikers.

i'm currently trying to put together a singletrackish/offroadish route through BC from east to west (eg banff to vancouver). was wondering if someone had a complete set of gps tracks for doug eastcott's biker bible. that would help planning (and riding) quite a bit, the weight of this monster disallows bringing it on the actual trip :-).

    thanks,
    joe.

There's several different mountain ranges between the Rockies and Vancouver, so Eastcott's book only gets you over to the other side of the Alberta/BC border in the Rockies..

Well, start by aiming for Invermere. There's a couple of routes up through the Purcells from there (Jumbo, Earl Grey, Lockhart) that will put you into the Nelson area. From there you've got the KVR that will take you all the way to Hope, although I'd suggest taking the spur from Merritt up to Spences Bridge and then going for the uber gnarl crossing of the Stein, and then on through the Sea-to-Sky via Pemby/Whistler.

That should keep you busy for a month or so at least.

sounds like fun. if you have some gps tracks from that stuff, please share :-). otherwise i'll try to locate a few of the things on the yuckie canmatrix maps. never been to bc before with my bike, so that could take a while.

a month sounds about right. makes for a nice ending for the mexico-banff-singletrack-bikepacking-trip :-).

btw, the kvr is mainly a flat dirtroad i guess? oh well, better than riding on one of the highways.

Yeah, KVR is a rail bed. Not too exciting, but it's hard to find bikeable singletrack routes in the BC mountains. It's kinda gnarly, eh?

    Here's Lockhart:

..and a bit of the KVR:

I may be a little late to the discussion, but have you looked at the TransCanada Trail?
