Anybody have disk brakes on back and v-brakes on front?

I ride in vancouver where it is wet and my rear v-brakes dont last more than 30 minutes when it is wet. I'm a novice so maybe I am braking too much or not feathering or something.

Usually, if people run a combo, it is disc in front, and v in the back because you should use more front brake. If you can afford it, just get a full set of mech-disc brakes. They should run you under 200-300, or go all out and by hydros. But, if the V-brake in the front works, go for it. It's all about personal preference.

When braking, you generally use the front more than the back as the front brake provides much more of the braking force...but of course, that can vary depending on the riding situation.

But if using the brakes properly and only having one disc brake and one v-brake, you'd definitely want the disc up front. A couple of my bikes are set up like that because the frames are older and don't have disc mounts (Major Jake and Peugeot in my sig). It works fine but my bikes with discs all around just stop better (plus they have hydros so that helps too).

Ok, thanks. I will reevaluate my braking technique.
