    XTR dual Pull Derailer... modifications?

    Hi all,
I just got my new Front XTR derailer with dual pull functions. It weighs in at a porky 148g !!!

Basically, I only need the top pull function and was thinking about cutting the dual pull arm lever off to save a few grams!!! (yeah I know I have a problem!)

Has anyone done this? And if so, any precautions you would suggest I take? Also, any idea how many grams it will shave?

    Thanks guys!

that is sad.. I can't believe you're thinking about doing that.. its like 25g heavier? Why not sell the xtr and get a braze on if you're that weight conscious..

No matter what you do you can't get it down to the weight of the older XTR (+/-110g) so why not sell it and get a M952
I should be doing something more productive with my time!

It's really what's most logical to do here.

    Wink

    The main reasons are:
1- I won't get that nice shinny new XTR look!
2- i've actually read in a few reviews that the new XTR front derailers shift a bit better!

CMon, I can't believe I'm the only weight weenie here who has thought of this? Nino at least???
