    Tune Kong rear hub

What's the reliability like on the newer versions of the Tune Kong rear hub?

The price is now quite close to the DT Swiss 240s 6-bolt. The Tune Kong is lighter but I wouldn't want to sacrifice reliability. I also don't like that one of the Tune Kong bearings is proprietary so I suppose you have to get that one from Tune.

Anyone put some serious distance on the 2010/2011 Tune Kongs?

Not a Kong hub Tig, but I have some miles on the new Tune Prince rear hub & its been great - no issues. Only been riding on it since Aug. 2011 though.

The new Kong hub uses standard bearings, IIRC.

That would be good. Starbike in their listing for the Kong rear hub has a link to a Tune maintenance manual and it says in there under bearings "1 x XOT 15 M00 (tune-
patent, not commercially available)". Maybe that's for the older version?

I reckon you're right. The tune website lists the bearings for the Kong as "3 x 61803, 1 x 61903", so no more "special bearing".

I have been riding tune king/kong hubs for over a year now, no issues.
I bought the wheelset from a friend and he had them for a year. So they are 2 years old.
    No problems at all.
I can't tell you though if mine are the old or the new, but I can tell you that many in germany ( I am german) are riding them with almost no issues.

I have a Kong that I have trained and raced hard since 2005. Still going strong.

also- I have been waiting for a (silver) Kong hub for over 9 months through fairwheel. Maybe its the color, but it seems like they have been slow to roll out the new model hub.
