    Tubular 29er rim

I'm thinking about going tubular on a 29er, and I'm looking for a lightweight rim. AX, Enve etc. is out of the question, too expensive.
The FRM 309T at 360 gram seems good, but i recently discovered the old Mavic Reflex rims. They are half the price of the FRM and 375 gram. Any experience with road rims on a 29er? They are only 21mm wide, whilst the FRM is 24mm. I will glue Dugast 52mm tires to them. Will the 21mm rim give enough support to the tire for aggressive racing?

A refelx will work alright for you. But, look at the HED Belgium tubular rim. It is wider and significantly stiffer. Another option would be a Velocity Major Tom (also wide).

FRM is a pain in the rear end to deal with! It took me a year to get a pair of their hubs. Only one person, Jane speaks English; if that is your native language.

What tires are you going to use on a tubular 29" rim?

I have looked and can't find many choices.

Only one real choice..... Dugast. The new 50-52mm tires and tread designs are so sweet.

Or a custom FMB if you want the sidewalls to not rot out in a season.

Do the sidewalls really rot out? Surely the aquaseal helps stop this? I really want to get a set but I live in the tropics where it's humid all year.
