    Silly question....

I like looking at all the tricks to make your mountain bike very light. BUT, why are they using those braided hoses on their bikes. Are they lighter? If so why don't we see them more?

I believe braided hoses are stiffer and heavier than regular hose. They are intended to increase performance, but they don't drop weight.

Are you maybe confusing a braided hose with compressionless housing like Nokon? Nokon is lighter than traditional housing and so it's a pretty common way to shed some grams.

Nokons are lighter than conventional brake cable housing sure, and stiffer also... they're not lighter than shimano 4mm SIS casing (least not enough to justify the price increase). Does look pretty though in the various annodized colours.
