this question will make you roll your eyes, but...

Given the precise nature of this group, I'm sure this will get a groan, but:

Does anyone have a ballpark estimate of what a set of standard cables weigh on a bike? Hydraulic for both brakes, and both derailleurs. Mojo HD if that matters.

I'm just looking for a reasonable ballpark estimate, since I'm trying to guesstimate weights as I tweak my build. I guessed 500g - is that way off?

    Thanks much!

Did you consider checking the listings on the weight weenies website maybe first?

Sure, good idea. Best comps I find are:
SIS Dura Ace set 2005 205g, I guess that's probably close enough. s
Not sure of the brake hoses (unclear from their site if those are part of the brake weight listed, but maybe I assume so).
    Is this unreasonable?
    Thanks much.

    i think 500g is overboard.
a single steel cable is about 20g
housings look like there only around 50g a meter which you have less then
i remember someone posting weights of various hydro lines and the lightest was like 14g and heaviest only around 30g i think(per meter) which you have clost to 2 meter's

so you probubly have only 100-150g of cable, housing, and hydro lines.

    does that answer your question?
    RAH!

Working with standard 4mm Shimano SP41 housing and Shimano Dura-ace inner cables I budget 60 grams for a hardtail, 80 grams for a duallie and 100 grams for full outer. Shimano XTR lines with fluid were 70 grams for my medium hardtail.

Note that hydro hose weight and fluid is usually included in the complete brake weight though.

not that it is exactly relevant but the cables and housings on the campy 11 speed road bike I just built came in at 174g, and that was on a large frame. So yeah 500g is probably way too much.
