    Idea! need lighter water!

I tried search. I found nothing about water. It was hot this weekend and I thought... We need some really smart organic chemist to invent a lightweight hydrating substance Has NASA worked that one out? I don't think Tang was lighter than regular water

i always thought it was funny. paying out your @$$ for a light carbon bottle cage, only to fill it with a bottle and 567.5 grams of water.

Well... The water gets lighter as it gets warmer outside.

Just attach a helium balloon (or two) to your camelback.

Just carry a Hydrogen canister on your next ride. Light a flame to burn the H2 to create water. Be sure to capure this on video too. Good times.

Or you could drink and extra 2 litres of water before the ride and carry it all internally then you could save the weight of the cages too. Then you just need a stillsuit like the Fremen had in Dune and you're good to go.

Just be glad you don't drink heavy water, that would just have you being chased by a cruise missile.

I think I remember Survivorman trying to distill his pee. I never got to see the end of the show though. Myself, I would prefer a fresh, cool, wheaty amber lager. That's probably what Bear Grylls drinks when the camera stops rolling.

Bear Grylls just straight up drinks his pee, nice 'n fresh like. If you're well endowed, you can just toss the ol' hose over your shoulder and clip it within drinking distance.

I heard of this "super water" that was chemically engineered to hydrate the body 8 times better than regular water. So you could bring a tiny amount for the same hydration.

You just reminded me of some water like that they were making here in San Diego about 6 years ago called Penta Water. Not sure if it's still around. I never tried it because I could never find it and $12 for a 6-pack of 12 oz bottles was (pardon the pun) hard to swallow..

They gave it to the Padres and the Chargers to try out and I think it turned out to be BS.

Good point. Some guys would probably be interested in superlight bottles. I'm thinking extra thin plastic impregnated with kevlar fibers for strength.

Unlike instant coffee where you could eat it dry to concentrate the flavour (anyone remember that old Matt Groenig cartoon?), dehydrated water wouldn't taste any more watery if you popped the capsules without water.
