    Light "stock bike"

What bike (f/s and hardtails both) in the $1500-$1800 range would be the lightest you guys can think of?
My wife needs to upgrade and I don't plan on dumping any cash into her trek 820, steel frame heavy bike...She is 110 pounds and rides mostly singletrack with sopme good climbs and fast descents but with no big drops or anything too rough. Again component strength is not that big of an issue as she is very easy on the bike, but I would like to find something very light for her...thnx...
