    Bar ends?

I'm looking for suitable bar ends for my new Stumpy FSR Pro carbon. I've bought the inserts already from Spesh for the carbon bars. I like a stubby short bar end, a little fat, but it must be light for this light bike.

On my steel hardtail I have the Ergon magnesium bar ends with special flattened grips - and I really like them - but they are heavy at 264g!

    Ideas please

Extralight and Tune make barends that weigh around 60 grams. Ritchey WCS and Titec Micros are around 100 grams.

    grips and bar ends...

What do you do with your grips when you fit bar ends? Do you cut them to size so that the bar end fits directly on the bar, or do you fit the bar end over the grip?

No bar end would ever fit over a grip. Just slide the grip toward the center of the bar by about 3/4" (+/-) to make room for the bar end. Of course, you'll have to loosen and slide your brake levers and shifters, as well.

Cane Creek Ergo Control ll. Mine weigh in at 158g. A little on the heavy side but they're a superior bar end to any other for comfort and build quality I think. Mixed with some pork rinds and they're lighter than the Ergon GX2 carbons.

How about just bar ends from Ergon GX2 kit, combined with Titec Pork Rinds grips...
What I like about this combination except of comfort and low weight, is that Ergon ends take very little space on a handlebar.

Ergon barends only work with Ergon grips. For example, you cannot use the GX2 barend with an ODI grip. The diameter of our barends are much larger than that of a handle bar. The Ergon grip is needed to act like a shim for the barend.

All you have to do is to cut off a piece of the grip which then act as a shim. You may use some hair spray if it slips. Neat and effective

    Ergon GX2 availability

I have decided I really want the GX2's but do you think I can find anyone to sell them to me?

Heck, nobody has them. I'm in the UK - do you have them in the US yet? If so, could you tell me which US online retailers would sell and deliver to the UK?

Or does anyone know when they will hit the shores of old Blighty?

The reason you cannot find them is because they are not out yet. Only the GX1 is available worldwide. The GX2 is slated for late March.

Awesome! It's like in the old West, who's the fast+est drawer! Thanks as this would be a good reading and an option for the OP as well.

Since you have a carbon Spec, how about these?

I have the rubber coated version ,they are very ergonomic and comfy.

Seems not that light though might be deceiving by merely lookin' at it. Could be nicer if the weight is already indicated even if it's just a manufacturer's claimed weight.
