    Dirty face peak RR

It's a steep trail up a mountain on lake Wenatchee. 4,000' up in just 4.5 miles. Surprisingly rideable if you like steep technical climbs (who doesn't right?) plus there is still a solid hour of hike-a-biking along the way. I am sure everyone is changing their weekend plans to go ride it now. LOL!

Here is what the peak looks like from the road by the lake:

The first mile is not too bad and by the time it gets steeper, awesome views open up. That's lake Wenatchee below.

The top used to be a fire lookout and get a 180 view. That's mt Howard on Nason ridge:

If the views are not enough, the only right way to enjoy this ale is to do the ride first

The descent is pretty fun despite a handful of blowdowns. Big rocks at the top and tight switchbacks below. The last mile is pretty flowy.

    Watch out for rubber boas

I grew up in western Washington, but the only rubber boa I've ever seen in my life was in the middle of the lower part of the trail, a couple of years ago in September. Fortunately I had my phone to snap a couple shots.Dirty face peak RR-20140920_085456-1-.jpgDirty face peak RR-20140920_085624-1-.jpg

I've hiked it before, but didn't know it was also open for mountain bikes. Will have to go back and ride it. Great pics - thanks for sharing.

I'll drink to your bad-assery while floating on the lake drinking a Dirty Face Amber, it tastes just as good and far less painful.

Now, that's a sensible person talking. Unlike Tarekith who will try to ride Icicle ridge this weekend and will probably hate me afterwards. LOL!
    Cheers!
