    Youngins at The Shoe?

I guess this is the best place to ask this. Here's the deal. Some friends and I were thinkin about driving down to Snowshoe from southern Ohio this summer. Now, none of us is over 18 (Or 21). I know I can get us a place to couch surf at a family friend's house around 30 mins from the mountain. What I need to know is if we can get lift passes and rent bikes. Something tells me the answer is no (just as it is for skiing), but I just thought I'd ask. Thanks.

I looked at their site and nothing is mentioned there. Last time I was there I had to sign
my life away for my son to ride there so I'm sure it's about the same. Below is the email
listed on their site for questions.

    mailto:[email protected]

Hope you get someone over 18 to go with you. I haven't been back down there for about
4 years now but when my son and I went there it was a blast. May have to do that again
this year. Of course it may be a bit crazier since my son is now 14 and a maniac on two
wheels like I'm sure you guys are. Ride on !

Yeah, the problem is that no one who could be a guardian who would be willing to go. Oh, well. Maybe something like a notarized form.

BTW, thanks for the email address.

I feel for ya ! Hope it works out cause they have some sick stuff...
Here's the page I was looking at. Guess you could always coax
someone along to go enjoy the attractions while you ride.

    Help is on the way...

Hey there, I am friends with the manager of the MAC center up at the Shoe. Let me ask him and I will get back with ya shortly.
    I think there should be a work-around...

I just spoke to the shop manager up there...that's a no go on the waiver and rentals. You must have a parent present if you are under 18.

Thats kinda what I figured. I guess they would probably have the same rules in the summer in the winter.

If your into cross country you should be ok. Never had to sign anything just to ride the trails only if I was going to use the lifts.

We (at least me) had hoped to do a week or so trip doing mostly XC, with our "off" days being DHing at Snowshoe. I guess I could probably talk my dad into going to ride some XC.
