Visiting Frederick. Any place to rent a decent MTB?

    Hey Guys,

    Greetings from CA.

I'm visiting Frederick MD on friday-tuesday for business. I'm wondering if there's a decent LBS who can rent me a bike, Also if you guys can point me to a nice XC trail nearby, that would be great.

I'm planning to ride at Gambrils there this Sunday. If you're interested I'd be happy to take you around the place. About a 3 hour ride. Let me know. Gambrils is right there in Fredrick.

If you need to borrow a bike, I also have an older GT ('99) that I can loan ya. It's my winter beater so it might not be up to "preformance" standards, but I've ridden many winters in Gambrils w/ little problems. You might want to bring your own pedals though unless your shoes are set up for Times.

There's a bunch of nice trails in Montgomery County about 30 minutes driving time from Frederick, including Schaeffer Farms, which is an MTB trails designed and maintained by MTBers.

I'm not 100% sure of bike shops that rent MTBs around here. You may want to check with Mt. Airy Bikes, which is about a 15 minute drive from Frederick. You might want to post on the MORE website (the local MTB club) with this query...or you may find an interested rider who also has a spare bike.
