    Richmond VA, group rides

Iím heading down to Richmond VA next week for thanksgiving and was wondering if there are any group rides going on or if any one would want to meet up and maybe give me a guided tour. Or even point me to where the best places to ride are?
    thanks in advance

I was just out today, but wonít be going out again until Sunday likely.

Downtown Richmond has James River trail system. Right in downtown Richmond. Very good trails, with some very technical sections. Pocahantas state park is in Chester, va about 20 minutes sw of downtown Richmond. There are over 30 miles of single track there. One section has a couple flow trails (7 miles worth). Other sections there are more old school (rocks and roots...also some technical stuff)

Check out mtb project for details and directions. Also google will pull them both up.

Thanks for the response. I ended up riding Pocahontas last night, ended up getting a guided tour from a local. Did the blue loop, red loop and did the1st lake loop. The trail system that I rode was very easy to understand and super smooth single track. Prob hit it again today and tomorrow. Would like to check out the James river trails before I leave, maybe Sunday ill get over there.

Good deal. If you want a smooth and fast run, the 7 miles on the ne side of pocahantas are the flow trails. Bell Lap and Blueberry Hill. There are two 1/2 mile loops that are very easy but a good warm up, then drop down into Bell Lap (downhill flow with jumps), then gradually climb back up and do Blueberry Hill.

New trail just opened near the end of the pump track on NE side of Poca.
Starts with lots of tight banked berms and continues for what seemed like about 4 miles.

Ride the new Corkscrew trail at pocahantas today (I think 50 other people were out there!)...they did a great job. Best trail in the metro area imo!

Ha!! I was there sunday, week ago. It was still closed

I was the guy who kept pumping rear tire after every run on Blueberry.
Punctured sidewall on Lakeview earlier Didn't seal up till later this week.
More you beef it up, more it will handle like a cow....:skep:
