    Pics of WV gnarly trails?

Hey ya'll! I'm trying to convince some of my lame Ohio Flatlander friends that they MUST go to WV with me and ride. I can't seem to describe to them just how rooty and rocky the XC trails are. I'm particularly looking for XC (no DH big drops please) pics of Big Bear, Slatyfork, Snowshoe and Kanawha S.F. area. Pics with people riding them would be a bonus too.

Thanks and hopefully we'll be there soon!

Just do a search by keyword. They're (the pics) all through here. I and outdoornut have done numerous write ups of KSF, Big Bear and Sladyfork w/ pics.

You can check out my blog by following the link at the bottom of this post.
Pay special attention to Red Run and Kennision Mountain Trails.
Another good one is Bear Pen Trail. Although I don't have many pics of it.

    Good luck and have fun!!

I forgot my camera last weekend or I could have posted some killer rock and root pics from Little Beaver SP. Talk about pinch flat city.

    Rider WV,
I am travelling to Charleston this weekend to visit relatives,I plan on riding KSF early Saturday. I have ridden these trails before but I have questions that are not covered by the map. Hope to see you there.

BigAl, what questions do you have. Tons of us on here ride at KSF, if I cant answer your questions someone else will be able too. If you dont want to post them up shoot me a PM, I will try to help ya. I am not sure if we are riding Sat or Sunday. If we ride tomorrow we will either be in a silver nissan sentra or a silver Dodge ram. We usually park at the gravel lot at the entrance or the lot at the end of the lake across from the rest rooms.

Right now our plan is Up Middle ridge road, then ride middle ridge trail, and down Black Bear. After that Im not sure, we may head back down the road or go hit Pigeon Roost and Pine Ridge out to Wildcat. Last time we rode up middle ridge, down TeaBerry, back up Pool Hill and Mossy Rock, across middle ridge Down Ballard, back out the road to the stables and then out Davis Creek to the car.

Saturday is my day to ride. I usually park at the pool p'lot and ride down the creek to the park entrance, up Middle Ridge Rd. and onto Middle Ridge Trail. Is the new swection complete? If I ride out to the Comm Tower can I continue onto the road to more trail?

Today was classic KSF.I met 6 locals and they let me join in. We went up Mossy Rock Trail, what a warm up! Back down Ballard. Then back up Middle Ridge Road to Middle Ridge Trail. Followed Middle Ridge to termination at the road and on to the down hill at Pigeon Roost.Followed Davis Creek back to the P'lot. The weather was great. The bike computer recorded 18 miles of fun. Many thanks to the locals for the tour.

First off, Hey Big Al, glad to see you are having a great time in our fine state. Be sure to
    post up some pics later.

    dlpj,

As Crashedandburned stated, he and I have posted several ride reports on most of the
trails mentioned. Here are a few links to those posts. Hope this works.

I realize this one has some pics of the Lake Hope trails in Ohio, however, It also
contains several good pics of Big Bear Lake.

This is Crashedandburns post, several pics in KSF

And since you are riding XC, I wouldn't bother going to Snowshoe. Save your
money and ride all the trails in the Gauley Mtn. / Slatyfork area. A great map
of the area can be purchased at Elk River Touring Center in Slatyfork. However,
here is a couple old pics from Snowshoe singletrack.

Hope this helps you convince them. Life's short, ride hard.

    Plantation

Taken somewhere between Fire Trail #3 and FT#6, I think.

One more from the '06 shuffle...

OK, not really a rock and/or root shot, but I'll never forget seeing our buddy Outdoornut execute this "dont try this at home" maneuver while descending Prop's. Hope you're healing up well, ODN!!!
