Patapsco State Park 2017 Awesomeness Video

So most on this thread know about Patapsco State Park in MD. Most don't realize we now have over 200 miles of trails in our park between Avalon and McKeldin. It all can be linked together with only a little road in Old Ellicott City, which is even cool in it's own right. Last year I didn't take the gopro out too much, but when I did it was all in different parts of the park. I only missed Daniels and some of the Catonsville side of Avalon. This is a LONG video, but really showcases the awesomeness that has been built over the past few years. If you haven't been here in a while, or ridden the "North Stuff" you just don't know Patapsco. I would suggest you check out Trailfest this year, as it show cases our Norther trails! Hope to see you out there!

Funny guy. You didn't make the cut! You didn't come up to Patapsco enough, yet alone any Wednesday nights! Your "running" got in the way. LOL

As LGP is my home trail, I didn't ride PTAP as much last yr as I usually do, and when I did it was with a slower group, maybe I'm showing my age.
In all seriousness, it has some of the best trails around. I am just starting to learn some of the less crowded "north". There are so many trails up there I still need a guide so I don't get lost.

Sweet video. Never been down to Patapsco. Guess I'll have to make a trip down from northeast PA.
    LOVE THE RIDE!

Hey I'm about 2 hours south of patapsco. My brother lives in Ellicott City so I've really wanted to check out the trails there. I've heard from people that it's hard to navigate or figure out which Park entrance to start at was wondering if you could give me some advice.

You can use the park entrance and pay the fee (can't remember how much) which will put you down by the river, but regulars don't use the park entrance. There are other free spots to park and ride in. There is a Park & Ride on Rolling Rd but people have had their cars broken into there, so take your chances. You can park at CCBC right up the street from the park & ride, that is a better option if you're on that side of the park. On the other side, where the trail crosses Landing Rd there is a small gravel lot, but that fills up quickly. I usually park at Rockburn Park right next to PTAP. It is safe and just a mile or so ride over to PTAP.

Come on down. I hear it's a bit more rocky up there than down here. You would probably find a lot of the park flowy, but we do have our technical areas. You just need to know where to go!

You can look up MVD Mountainbikers on meetup or facebook. I lead a weekly Wed night ride. Also look up OpenStreetMap, and zoom in to Patapsco State Park, MD. Every trail in the park is pretty much documented there.

I do like the shed, but nothing in our area has the variety of Patapsco. If you want rocks we have it. If you want flowy, we have it. If you want logs, we have it. If you want some pretty fun down hills we have it. We have some drops and jumps. We do lack a true "down hill / shuttle type" trail though. But we do have bars we can start and end at with good beer and food!

Fountainhead is fun! But when I have this in my backyard, it's hard to travel an hour for fun. I do usually make it to the Shed, and always plan to make Fountainhead every year, but can't seem to get down there.
