New question here. New to Newark, DE area

I am moving to Newark, DE in 10 days (Aug 9). I am hoping to hook up with some folks for some mountain biking. II will be new to the area and will not know many people. I am going to miss the Santa Cruz mountains and the Pacific swell - whimper, whimper. I am up for any type of cross-country riding. I have various bikes ranging from a purple single speed to ibis silk ti to an intense spider.

In general I ride with a bunch of guys on Tues and Thrusday nights, and do epic sunday morning rides. All rides end with post-ride beers!!!! I am more than willing to do some traveling, etc. If you have the time to show me the local scene....it would be super cool.

    Cheers,
    Jamie

Fairhill is real close! Look up the Delaware Trail Spinners on the web. I'm about an hour or so from fairhill. Don't get up that way very often, but when I do I always have a good time.

Welcome to DE! Many places to ride here. Judge Morris Estate and Middle Run will be 5 minutes away for you. Fair Hill about 10 minutes away. Give me a shout at [email protected] and we can hook up. My buddy and I ride every weekend and during the week as well. We generally hold a pace at 8-10 mph average, but will go at a pace your comfortable with so that you can get used to the area. DO checkout www.trailspinners.org when you get the chance. There are many scheduled rides.

    Smile Thanks HPilot

Awesome! Sounds great. I will email soon (waiting for my new email account). Your pace will be fine. I just have to get use to flat land pedalling again. I use to live in Florida, which has great technical riding, but you generally are pedaling the entire time. Now, I have gotten use to CA riding, which requires pedaling uphill for 1-2 hours and then flying downhill for an hour or so.

Anyway, I game for riding! I love night riding, etc.

Thanks again and will chat soon,

    Jamie

One you get there there are many places to ride and many group rides. You will find out that you will be centered in the middle of all the places to ride in the area. As a matter of fact its pretty much the only area with decent trails in Delaware. If you like to ride and enjoy a beer or 4 after a ride there is a group that rides out of the Zingo's grocery store in Newark. There is also a bar called McGlynns for those people who navigate by bars. They ride out on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6PM and cover 15 miles or so and have a few in the lot when finished and shoot theshit. There are also groups that leave the same lot on Tuesdays and Thursdays but I don't know about post ride activities with those groups.
