If your near the D.C. area check this out...

Oct 23 Meet for Project with "Bicycle Challenge Area" & XC trails!
What is a "Bicycle Challenge Area"? How about a couple of pump tracks and all-mountain, beginner/intermediate freeride trails

The "Challenge Area" will be possibly located South East Laytonsville in Montgomery County and will be build working closely with IMBA. While there is not a large amount of elevation change there is potentual for fun and challenging trails for experianced riders.

The XC trail should be about 12 miles long located near Laytonsville, Olney and Rockville in Montgomery County. Some connector sections might be paved but the majority of trail will be natural surface.

It is important to have a good showing at this meeting to supprt this project!

If you have any questions, let me know. Some project info will not be released until the meeting.

Following is the offical Public Notice for the meeting. Put this on you calender NOW!

Thanks for posting this! I kept meaning to post the info here but things have been chaotic lately.

The more people we have at the meeting on Tuesday the 23rd the better to show the County we are serious about this project!

The meeting went very well. There was little opposition to either the XC trails or the challenge area. There was concern from the neighborhood near the challenge area about driving through their neighborhood. They seem well orginized and could put a long delay to the project. Another road entrance is in the plans but many years out.

Here are offical notes from the meeting:

It would be good for people to send an email to the Chair of Park and Planning in support of the project to counter any emails they receive against the project and CC the County Council and County Executive.
