    holiday weekend ride

I'm going to Chavy Chace Maryland this weekend. Where is good place to ride?
I've been toSchaeffer Farms before, but I read it's closed.
I 'm hoping I can ride Sat late morning, and Sunday early afternoon for an hour or an hour and a half.

Is there a good local website or a blog?

    Thanks

Check out Mid-Atlantic Offroad Enthusiast's "Where to Ride" forum on their website. Good luck!

Closet decent place to ride is probably Patapsico Park off of 195 near Baltimore.

Schaeffer is closed, Cabin John is open but not as nice as Patapsico. If you like rocks, a 1 hour drive will get youo to Gambrill and the Watershed. This is world class rocky east coast riding.

When/why did Schaeffer close? I was just there on saturday and the trails were in pretty good shape.

EDIT: just checked - it was closed November 26 -December 10 and will be closed January 6-7 for deer hunting. Otherwise its open until further notice (ie until we get some serious sloppiness).

Unfortunately it might be too wet to ride any of the trails. It's been raining a good bit lately, at least in Frederick, and more is on the way.

Patapsico is one of my choice

    Gambrill is my other choice

i check weather.com a couple times a day, and it's changing. at this point it says it won't rain next 10days in Chevy Chase!

One good thing about Gambrill, the rocks help it drain and dry quickly; well worth the trip!
